Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Rolling Pin
  • Mixing bowls
  • - Pastry Brush
  • Knife or pizza cutter
  • Measuring cups/spoons

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded or diced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 package puff pastry thawed
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Set oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, mozzarella, cheddar, Parmesan, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Roll Out Pastry: Lightly flour a surface and roll out the puff pastry slightly.
  • Assemble the Jalousie : Place the filling in the center of the pastry. Fold the sides over the filling, creating an open-top pastry pocket.
  • Brush with Egg Wash: Use a pastry brush to apply beaten egg over the exposed pastry for a golden, crispy finish.
  • Bake: Transfer to a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
  • Cool & Serve: Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil and serve warm.

Notes

For extra crispiness, refrigerate the assembled Jalousie for 10 minutes before baking.
Experiment with different cheeses like provolone or Swiss for unique flavors.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month.
Reheat in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for best results.
