Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Wire cooling rack

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes). Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  • Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown. Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack. Enjoy warm!
