Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold, cubed
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4-5 tablespoons ice water
  • For the Filling:
  • 3 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Crust: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water until the dough comes together. Wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a circle and place it into a 9-inch pie dish. Prick the bottom with a fork.
  • Make the Filling: In a bowl, whisk together applesauce, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, eggs, and lemon juice.
  • Assemble the Pie: Pour the filling into the prepared crust and smooth the top.
  • Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
  • Cool & Serve: Let the pie cool on a wire rack before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Use homemade applesauce for the best flavor.
Pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes if you prefer an extra crisp texture.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
